DigitalPhotoLog Goes Canon
We are long time users of Nikon equipment, with a significant investment in the lenses and accessories. Having made the transition to digital some 4 years ago we are now on the sixth set of digital equipment--the first to feature a lens mount other than Nikon. From Fuji S2 Pro bodies, we have recently moved to Canon 10D bodies, with associated lenses and accessories. It was not a sudden jump. Based on reports we purchased one 10D and several lenses to test in-house. Based on the tests, we invested in more Canon bodies, lenses, and accessories. The move was based on the superior noise control of the Canon 10D, its overall speed of handling, and the wide availability of IS in the Canon lens line. For our event photography, this combination is a winner for producing a high percentage of usable images.
However, the 10D just does not match the Fuji S2 Pro for rich, perfect colors right out of the camera. As a result we have kept one Fuji S2 Pro body for nature and travel photography, as well as our assortment of Nikon lenses and accessories.
There is much to select from for each shoot. And, as the digital photography industry races forward, we are poised to take advantage of the latest technology, whether it comes with a Canon or Nikon lens mount.
